Our coverage

Where our internal door fitters work

We supply and fit internal doors from our base in Newcastle upon Tyne. We don’t have branches or local offices. Instead, we travel from Newcastle to every job.

Newcastle, Gateshead and North and South Tyneside are closest to us, so we’re in those areas most often. Sunderland, the southern half of Northumberland and the north of County Durham are a longer drive but still part of our regular area. If you’re near the edge of it, send us your postcode and we’ll tell you straight whether we can help.

The service is the same wherever you are. We offer supply and fit or fit only, send a fixed, written quote broken down into doors, hardware and labour, and usually reply within one working day. Most whole-house refits take one to two days once the doors are delivered.

Local housing

The kinds of homes we fit internal doors in

The North East has a wide mix of housing, and the type of house tells us a lot about the job before we arrive. These are the homes we see most often and what each one usually needs.

Type of homeWhere you’ll find itWhat we look out for
Tyneside flatsHeaton, Bensham, South Shields, WallsendTight landings in upper flats, so door swing matters
Victorian and Edwardian terracesJesmond, Tynemouth, Low Fell, AshbrookeNon-standard sizes and frames that are out of square
Sunderland cottagesMillfield, Pallion, Hendon, SouthwickCompact passages and added loft rooms
Colliery terracesAshington, Stanley, Houghton-le-SpringNarrow openings and frames that have settled
Stone cottagesHexham, Corbridge, rural NorthumberlandThick walls, deep linings and low doorways
1930s semisFenham, Monkseaton, Whitley BayDark halls that benefit from glazed doors
Post-war and new-build estatesKillingworth, Washington, Great ParkHollow-core doors to upgrade, and integral garage fire doors

Older homes almost always need each door fitted to its own frame, while newer ones are usually quicker. Our door supply and fitting page explains how we handle both.

Choosing doors

Is the door range the same in every area?

Yes. Every door we supply is available wherever we work, from oak and painted doors to glazed, fire, bifold and pocket doors. What changes from place to place is the advice. A tall Victorian opening in Tynemouth may need a made-to-measure door, a stone cottage in Corbridge will need wider linings, and a shared house in Jesmond will need certified fire doors with closers.

We’ll suggest what suits your house rather than pushing one product, and if a cheaper door will do the job well, we’ll say so. Browse the full internal doors range to get a feel for the options.

Planning

How do you plan a job further from Newcastle?

For jobs close to home, it’s easy for us to drop by for a survey. Further out, in Sunderland, Northumberland or County Durham, we plan things so the work needs as few trips as possible.

Quote first, from photos

Good photos let us give you a quote before anyone visits. For simple jobs in newer houses, that quote is often all you need.

One survey, if needed

Older properties, odd sizes and fire doors usually need measuring on site. We do that in a single visit and confirm the final sizes before ordering.

One fitting booking

Once the doors have been delivered, we fit them in one booking where we can, rather than spreading the job over several days. Dust sheets go down first, and the old doors and packaging leave with us.

Getting a quote

What to send us for an accurate quote

The more we know at the start, the fewer surprises later. When you fill in the quote form or email us, try to include:

  • Your postcode, so we can confirm you’re in our area.
  • How many doors you need and which rooms they’re for.
  • The style and finish you like, or a link to doors you’ve seen.
  • A photo of each doorway, showing the frame and the floor.
  • Rough sizes if you have them. Our guide on how to measure an internal door shows how.
  • Any fire door requirements from building control, an HMO licence or a fire risk assessment.

If you’re not sure what you want yet, that’s fine. Our door styles guide and cost guide are good places to start.

Landlords & businesses

Landlord and commercial door work across the region

We also fit doors for landlords, letting agents and businesses throughout our area, from shared houses in Jesmond and Durham City to offices and shops. This often means certified FD30 fire doors with seals and closers, hard-wearing doors that are easy to replace like for like, and work timed around tenancies or opening hours. If you look after properties in more than one town, we can quote for them together and keep the door styles consistent. See our landlords and commercial page for details.
